Tropical Storm Debby has become Hurricane Debby as of the 11 pm advisory from the National Hurricane Center. Debby will make landfall Monday in the Big Bend area of Florida, then weaken to a Tropical Storm over land. The new forecast track is similar to earlier, but even a little slower. The slow movement of the storm will result in very high rain amounts, and the likelyhood that some parts of SE Georgia and South Carolina will have catastrophic flooding over the next five days. Here are the latest maps for track, rainfall totals through Friday, and flash flood risk. There is quite a bit of difference between the computer models on the track after we get to Tuesday morning. There are some models, including the European, that have a stronger storm with higher winds making a second landfall in the Carolinas. I will take a closer look at that tomorrow after the overnight model runs.
